The following courses aim to enable staff to enhance their professional skills in a wide range of areas including working with others, communication and in a learning and teaching and research context.

  • Time Management
    Courses to help staff manage their use of time more effectively
  • Personal Resilience in Times of Change
    Courses to enable staff to cope more effectively with change, to develop self-confidence and self awareness and self impact, and develop coping strategies during turbulent times
  • Stress & Pressure
    Courses to help staff to develop personal resilience, and to help others manage stress and pressure, particularly during times of change.
  • Information Overload
    Following a wide-ranging review of SDDU’s provision we will not be offering these workshops in the academic year 2011/12. However, the following three online resources look at the main ideas for processing and managing information effectively:

    Courses to enable staff to improve their skills in chairing and servicing meetings.

  • Interpersonal communication in the new HE environment
    This new course aims to enable staff to develop more effective and assertive communication skills.
  • Presentation Skills
    A range of courses to improve presentation skills, and increase the impact of presentations.
  • Personal Development for Women (The Springboard Programme)
    Springboard is an award-winning three-month personal development programme designed especially for women. It has been created to enable women to achieve greater recognition and influence and to fulfil their potential in both their work and personal lives.

  • Courses in Learning and Teaching
    Includes credit bearing courses and programmes, and open courses for staff involved in learning and teaching.
  • Student Support Network (SSN)
    The Student Support Network provides a forum for all staff with responsibility for supporting students to hear about and discuss recent developments in all aspects of student support.
  • Support network for learning and teaching administration
    The Network aims to provide a forum to share good practice among administrative and support staff in faculties, schools and departments/centres and to promote a dialogue between staff in these areas and the central administrative offices.
