Organisational development

'Organisational development (OD) is a planned and systematic approach to enable sustained organisation performance through its people', CIPD.

SDDU plays a pivotal role and provides expertise and a range of both open courses and bespoke services to support the development and growth of faculties, schools, services and teams.

OD can take many forms and is often initiated via some element of change via internal or external influences. In a climate of rapid and regular change, SDDU has provided resources and support to departments throughout the University helping them understand how to develop their capability to continuously adapt to changing market and social conditions. We are able to offer a range of support including; courses, workshops, consultancy, facilitation, coaching and the use of a variety of psychometric tools. Examples of some of the services which have been delivered over recent years are available here.

The links to the left also provide further access to information and guidance which may be helpful in identifying the appropriate level of support required.

To take advantage of this service and explore the opportunities available to support the development of your faculty, school, service or team please contact one of the OMD team members (See below) for an initial discussion. (Please note we recommend a lead time of approx 4 weeks to enable us to effectively plan and develop an  activity/event appropriate to your needs)

You may like to consider the following questions these will help us to offer the appropriate approach and level of support.

1.    What is the main purpose of the activity/event?

2.    What are the desired outcomes? (How would you like things to be different as a result?)

3.    How does the desired activity link to the School/Service plans?

4.    Have you consulted/involved your Human Resource Manager?
