Learning and Teaching Workshops for Postgraduate Research Students, Research Staff and Part-time Teachers
SDDU runs a series of workshops on various aspects of teaching and student learning for postgraduate research students, research staff and other part time teachers who have teaching responsibilities at the University of Leeds.
These workshops are aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework for Supporting Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and aim to prepare participants for their teaching role. They focus on development of the essential skills required for demonstrating, small group teaching, lecturing and assessing student work.
For those who are interested in developing their teaching practice further, there are additional sessions on using the University VLE in teaching; evaluating teaching; student learning; and working with student diversity. There is also the opportunity to practice an element of teaching and receive feedback from colleagues.
The University of Leeds has a Code of Practice for Postgraduates Research Students engaged in teaching which outlines the training and support postgraduate research students can also expect from their School or Department.
