Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education (APL)

The Postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education (APL) is a University of Leeds qualifications taught and assessed by the SDDU and approved and quality assured by the University's Learning and Teaching Board (LTB) as 60-credit, level M awards.  It is designed for staff with appropriate experience of teaching in higher education who wish to gain a University qualification that recognises their quality and competence as teachers in higher education but who also want to claim advanced standing for existing, appropriate qualifications/credits.  Normally the maximum (equivalent) number of credits that can be claimed is fifteen.  This route is a negotiated programme, and additional credits can be gained by completing aspects of appropriate parts of ULTA-2 or the PGCLTHE (taught).

The PGCLTHE (APL) qualifies for advanced standing of sixty credits towards the PGDLTHE and the MA.

Staff can register for this qualification at any time in the academic year.
