Individual Application for Professional Recognition
Professional Recognition of your teaching and support of learning
We are accredited to award Associate Fellowship, Fellowship or Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), each of which recognise practice that aligns with the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and supporting learning in higher education (2011). The award of Fellowship provides national recognition of your commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education; demonstrates that your practice is aligned with the UKPSF; provides an indicator of professional identity for higher education practitioners, including the entitlement to use post-nominal letters; and is a portable asset that has UK-wide relevance and which is increasingly recognised by higher and further education institutions.
We have recently reviewed our routes to the award of HEA Fellowships and have replaced our existing scheme with the Professional Recognition in Student Education (PRiSE) scheme: an HEA-accredited process for the award of the three categories of fellowship listed above. Information regarding the scheme and support is available here.
We are also in the process of developing a new Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice – PGCAP – which will replace our previous credit-bearing provision (ULTA/ULTRA). The PGCAP is currently in design and it is intended to submit it for programme approval in the Autumn of 2017, and for accreditation by the HEA later this year. All being well, the PGCAP will be available for delivery from Spring 2018. Successful completion of the PGCAP will also lead to the achievement of HEA Associate Fellowship or Fellowship, depending on how many modules of the PGCAP participants undertake.
Further updates will be provided via this website and through communications via Leadership Forum, the Directors of Student Education Forum, and relevant university committees.
