Individual Application for Professional Recognition

Professional recognition for teaching and support of student learning is available against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and support of learning (UKPSF, 2011). Recognition provides national recognition of your commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education; demonstrates that your practice is aligned with the UKPSF; provides an indicator of professional identity for higher education practitioners, including the entitlement to use post-nominal letters; and is a portable asset that has UK-wide relevance and which is increasingly recognised by higher and further education institutions.

There are two routes to professional recognition at the University of Leeds:the UKPSF@Leeds Individual Application and direct application to the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

The UKPSF@ Leeds – Individual Application http://www.sddu.leeds.ac.uk/learning-teaching/individual-application-for-professional-recognition/ukpsfleeds-individual-application/

The UKPSF@Leeds Individual Application for professional recognition is a non-credit bearing route to professional recognition for your role in teaching and support of student learning against the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF).

The route is accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and leads to dual professional recognition by both the University of Leeds and the HEA at one of four categories of fellowship: Associate, Fellow, Senior Fellow and Principal Fellow.

It is essential to read the Handbook for the category of Fellowship you are applying for before you submit your application. Handbooks are available here

Colleagues wishing to apply through this route are strongly advised to attend Support Sessions 1, 2 and 3. Information is available here
